KERAMICA offers numerous and very special products from different types of wood. Normally the more valuable wood with nice structuring or colouring will be not decorated, these are - among many other types - ebony (black / white), mahogany (red-brown), palm wood (typical structured) or rosewood (red-brown and of extreme hardness). Items made of these types of wood are delivered natural-coloured or surface-oiled.
For decorated wooden items less precious wood is normally used. The carvings come from different regions of Tanzania (Mtwara, Kilimanjaro, Kigoma, Dar-es-Salaam) .Most of the decorations are done by Tingatinga painters of the TACS.
At extremely dry conditions large-volume carvings are inclined to cracking.
